How to set up PPTP on Asus Routers


Here are the steps you should follow:

  1. Connect to your router. To do that you have to enter the following address in your browser: http://192.168.1.1. Also, if you are connected to your router via Ethernet, set your network connection to obtain the IP address automatically.
  2. In the “Advanced Settings” box click on “VPN” button (1).

  3. Then click on “VPN Client” tab (2).

  4. In the “VPN Client” tab click on “Add profile” (3).

  5. Make sure that thee “PPTP” option (4) is selected, then fill the fields (5) and check the radio buttons with the following settings:

    “Description” – type a name for your connection, for example: SirVPN PPTP

    “VPN server” – type the IP address of the SirVPN server you want to connect to.

    To find the entire list of all available servers, sign in to your account on our website, go to “Setup” -> “VPN Servers“. If you don’t have a SirVPN account, you can try our services.

    Type one more time the same hostname in the “Remote ID” field (10).

    In the username and password fields type your VPN username and password.

    “Auto-reconnection” – choose “Yes”.

    “PPTP Options” – select “MPPE 128”.

  6. Now click on “Activate” button (7) and wait until the connection is activated.

  7. The connection is now created and it is ready to use. To check if you are connected to a VPN server, check if you IP address is changed.
